Melbourne rock band EMPRA are looking for a hard hitting, rock solid drummer who plays simple but creatively for the song. You must have the drive to work in an artistic capacity with the long term vision of becoming a professional rock n roll musician. You must be willing to do “whatever it takes”.
In the short span of three years, we have released a full length album, two EPs and toured Australia, USA & Asia. We have had five singles played on Australian commercial and community radio collectively for a total of nine months. Our latest single is currently being played on 88 American college radio stations and was selected as a finalist in the 2013 Vanda & Young songwriting competition. As a band we have performed over 200 shows locally and have a loyal fan base in all Australian capital cities and major country towns.
Last year we won the Live Nation USA International Band competition representing Australia at House of Blues in Los Angeles, California and that opened a lot of doors for us internationally, scoring us the Asian tour support for Fall Out Boy. There has been a tremendous amount of USA management and label interest for us and we are booked to perform at the SXSW 2015 festival in March. We will be staying on in the USA for at least three months after the festival for touring opportunities with the possibility of long term relocation to Los Angeles or New York.
We are currently getting ready to record our second full length album which will showcase the evolution of the bands songwriting and sound. It can be described as something that has the sincerity of the early Weezer songs, the swagger of Eagles of Death Metal, the energy of The Hives and the uplifting spirit of Foo Fighters. Think honest and meaningful lyrics with massive choruses and tons of pop hooks that rock and get people singing along at our shows.
Sadly our current drummer has decided that he cannot commit to the extensive promotional and touring schedule that will happen for us in 2015 and has decided to step down to let someone take his place. We’re hoping you might be that person. If so, you must have:
- An I Won’t Give Up attitude
- A professional ambition for your music career
- Reliable transport
- Tour ready gear
- No drug or alcohol issues
- Availability to rehearse up to twice a week
- Availability to perform up to two shows a week locally and interstate! Nothing holding you back from extended overseas tours
- No ego or attitude problems
- Be social media savvy or wiling to learn
- Be wiling to help promote and market the band
- Willing to fit into the EMPRA “brand”
If this sounds like you and you want to be a part of our rock n roll dream please send an email with your details, experience, a photo and links to some examples of your playing to email@example.com
